FEMME - Covers (EP)

London-based singer/songwriter and producer Laura Bettinson, otherwise known as FEMME has just released her long-awaited Covers EP. The 4-track EP include a series of covers by artists that have influenced her sound and aesthetic, each one from a different decade. Not only is each track a classic in its own right but they've all been given the FEMME treatment, resulting in some uniquely brilliant interpretations that fans of both her and the original artists will love.

Starting with the '60s and progressing in chronological order until she reached the '90s, FEMME kicked things off back in June with a hip-hop-flavoured version of The Shangri-Las' "Sophisticated Boom Boom" along with her rendition of Anita Ward's '70s disco classic "Ring My Bell". Earlier this month she unveiled her cover of one of Madonna's most memorable '80s anthems "Vogue" followed by her fourth and final track off the EP, a cover of Adamski and Seal's hit single "Killer".

While the concept behind the release involves some significant time-travel, the amazing thing is that it still stands up as a brilliantly coherent EP that sums up everything that's awesome about FEMME's own music - girls, beats and bass.
